“Blank Canvas” records the temporality and beauty of large empty billboards dotting the American industrial landscape.  Photographed mostly at night, looming and illuminated, they offer the viewer a momentary respite from yet another advertisement, and instead become rich and minimalistic works of art. Captured in this fleeting and transitional state of vacancy, beauty can be found in their luminescence, their repetition of line and shape, and in the subtle shifts of tone and light from their weathering. The empty billboards offer a moment of contemplation, a space to breathe and perhaps, a space for possibility and potential.
