Rispoli’s catholic upbringing, inquisitive mind and design aesthetic drew him to 42nd Street’s New York City sex scene during the 1970’s. This was a time, prior to the Disneyfication of 42nd street, when adult bookstores were ubiquitous in New York City’s Times Square.
The carnivalesque neon arenas produced fifty-five gallon pails of quarters, twenty-five cent coins. This collection of images captures the play of emotion where the intensity of the work is viewed through a lens that brings pumping pleasure driven culture back to life. Shot on hand held Kodak Kodachrome 64 slide film.
